Exhibition promotes Viet Nam’s image in Cambodia

An exhibition themed “Viet Nam - Destination of Cambodia in 2017” opened in Cambodiana hotel of Cambodia’s capital city of Phnom Penh on December 18, aiming to promote Viet Nam’s landscape, people and culture to Cambodia.

The exhibition is also part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Cambodia diplomatic ties.

The two-day event drew Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Art Khim Sarith, representatives from embassies of countries in Cambodia and the Vietnamese community in the country.

The event is considered as one of the biggest promotional events concerning Viet Nam ever held in Cambodia, with 300 photos and over 100 documentaries divided into eight topics: World Heritage sites in Viet Nam; Traditional villages of Viet Nam; Viet Nam’s festivals; Vietnamese cuisine; The beauty of Vietnam’s landscape and people; Viet Nam - integration and development; Vietnamese press; Viet Nam - Cambodia relations.

Addressing the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao said that the event aims to give visitors an overall view on the political, cultural, and economic, as well as the diplomatic relations, between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

The organisation board hopes to bring Viet Nam closer to the Cambodian people, thus fostering the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation between the two nations, he added.

For his part, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Art Khim Sarith said that this year, the exhibition is among major activities jointly held by both countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, which helps forge connectivity and exchanges between the two peoples.
