Known in Vietnam as Tết Trung Thu, the Mid-autumn Festival celebrates the traditional date of the end of the autumn harvest. After all the work is done in the fields, this festival is chance for the Vietnamese to relax with their families. The festival places a special emphasis for children, who form parades in the evening carrying handcrafted shadow lanterns. Rich mooncakes of all flavours are gifted to friends and family. The round shape of the cake symbolises completeness and reunion.
