Vietfest 2015, a Vietnamese heritage festival, opened at Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra on October 8, giving visitors a kaleidoscope of Viet Nam’s culture.
A traditional and modern Viet Nam was reflected in the rhythms of folk music and games, a display of handicrafts, traditional customs and pictures of the country and people.
A stall showcasing Viet Nam’s traditional food also attracted crowds.
Proceeds will be donated to the club “For beloved Hoang Sa-Truong Sa” and the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund in support of coast guards, fishermen and poor students.
Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi said in his speech that the event is meant to introduce Viet Nam, its culture and people to international friends.
The event was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Youth & Students’ Association in Canberra and the Viet Nam Students’ Association at ANU.
