VNAT introduces Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP)

(TITC) – On 22 October 2015, in Ha Noi, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) organized a workshop to introduce technical issues related to MRA-TP implementation.

The workshop was a forum for state-management agencies, tourism enterprises, tourism training establishments and relevant sides to share experiences in embracing opportunities and overcoming challenges in MRA-TP implementation.

In his opening speech, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director General of VNAT emphasized the significance of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) establishment in the end of 2015, the implementation of MRA-TP to facilitate labor mobility which would influence all stakeholders in the tourism industry. Therefore, to gain benefits from MRA-TP and tourism integration, stakeholders should focus on improving the quality of human resources, competitiveness, recruitment policies.

At the workshop, VNAT provided information about the implementation of MRA-TP in Viet Nam and in ASEAN. To prepare for official implementation of MRA-TP in early 2016, Viet Nam and other ASEAN countries are focusing on  developing trainers, assessors and toolbox; establishing National Tourism Professional Board and Tourism Professional Certification Board; comparing national tourism profession standards, training program, certification system among member countries through ASEAN qualification reference framework to recognize tourism qualification equivalence; launching ASEAN tourism professional registration system…
