Developing tourism in Quang Tri - the “Land of Fire”

(TITC) – Being endowed with beautiful scenery, popular revolutionary relics and the advantages of geographical location, Quang Tri Province has been developing its strengths to promote tourism.  

Located in the Central of Viet Nam, Quang Tri Province owns many beautiful landscapes including Cua Viet Beach (Gio Linh District); Cua Tung Beach, Con Co Island, Ru Linh primary forest (Vinh Linh District), Tan Lam Mineral Springs (Cam Lo District), O O Waterfall (Que Son District)... and also is home to Kinh people and Bru - Van Kieu, Hoa, Ta - Oi ethnic groups.

Being considered the “Land of Fire” during the struggle against invasion of foreign enemies, Quang Tri still remains many valuable revolutionary relics as Vinh Moc Tunnels and Vinh Linh Village’s tunnels system; Hien Luong Bridge - Ben Hai River (Vinh Linh District); Quang Tri ancient Citadel (Quang Tri Town); Ta Con Airport; Khe Sanh Base (Huong Hoa District); McNamara Line (Electric Fence); Ben Tat Suspension Bridge (Gio Linh District); Headquarter of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Viet Nam (Cam Lo District); Dong Ha Military Port (Dong Ha City)... Thanks to its location at the gateway of East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) via 19 provinces of 4 countries including Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam, Quang Tri has advantages to attract investment, trade and cultural exchanges in Mekong region countries, EWEC countries...

In addition, the province also has been investing and upgrading tourist accommodations, restaurants; planning for 6 high quality tourist areas including Cua Viet, Cua Tung and Con Co Island areas; calling for tourism investment; and boosting cooperation between Quang Tri and Savannakhet Province (Laos) - Mukdahan Province (Thailand); building Lao Bao Tourist Information Center to promote tourism information of Quang Tri Province and EWEC route…

With above available advantages and potentials, Quang Tri has been becoming one of attractive destinations in Viet Nam. In 2015, Quang Tri welcomed 1.6 million domestic and int’l arrivals including 1.4 million domestic arrivals. Total tourism receipts reached VND 1,400 billions, up 11% over last year.

In 2016, Quang Tri strives to attain a 3.4% increase in tourist arrivals compared with 2015; total tourism receipts estimate VND 1,425 billions.
