VNAT attends Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2016

(TITC) – The 15th Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) took place from 8 – 10 June 2016 at Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Center.

This was the first time the event had been held in Chiang Mai after 14 consecutive years in Bangkok. The fair attracted the participation of nearly 400 buyers from the countries and regions in the world, around 800 sellers and 5 national tourism authorities of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam (CLMTV).

On 8 June, the opening ceremony had the attendance of Mr. Tanasak Patimapragorn – Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Ms. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul – Minister of Sports and Tourism of Thailand and Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn – Director General of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

Attending TTM+ 2016, the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) built a tourism booth in an area of 54m2 to promote Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 - Phu Quoc - Mekong River Delta with the theme “Exploring Southern Land” and Viet Nam’s North Central tourism in linkage with the Northeast of Thailand.

In addition, the VNAT’s delegation also attended the conferences on the sidelines of the travel mart such as B2C event, conference on online travel business, especially press conference on “CLMVT Link: Prosper together joint” – an event organized for the first time to promote tourism of 5 countries CLMVT.

At the meeting with representatives of 4 attending countries, Thailand hoped that the 5 countries would strengthen cooperation in tourism promotion and product development such as river tourism and Journey of the Rice.

In 2015, CLMTV countries welcomed 44.5 million international tourist arrivals (up 7.3% over 2014), accounting for 43% of the total number of international tourists to ASEAN.
