(TITC) - On 11 July, in Ha Noi, Steering Committee, Organizing Committee of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 held the first meeting to discuss and approve some contents of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017.

The meeting had the attendances of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) - Head of Steering Committee of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017; Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of People’s Council of Lao Cai Province – Co-head of Steering Committee of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017; and members of Steering Committee, Organizing Committee of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017; representatives of related ministries, industries, and units; representatives of the expanding North-West provinces and some other provinces and cities nationwide.
At the meeting, Mr. Ha Van Thang - Director of Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported the preparation and the program draft of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017. Accordingly, Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 hosted by Lao Cai Province will have the participations of Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang provinces and the response of provinces and cities such as Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh...
According to the draft, Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 will include 8 activities held by MoCST; 5 events hosted by Lao Cai Province; 12 ones organized by the expanding North-West provinces, etc. The opening and announcing ceremony of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 is expected to take place in February 2017 and associated with Thuong Temple Spring Festival of Lao Cai Province. The closing ceremony will be held in November 2017 in association with the 17th Viet Nam - China International Trade Fair.
To prepare for Visit Viet Nam Year 2017, Lao Cai Province and the expanding North-West provinces built 8 specific tourism products of the region in 2017. Of which, the highlight is community-based tourism to introduce the beauty of people, culture, lifestyle of North-Western ethnic groups to domestic and foreign visitors. Besides, other tourism products consists of discovering rice terraced field heritage route; highland market; spiritual tour along Red River through provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho; spiritual tour along Da River through provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau; “North-West Flower Colors” tour; tourism program “Myth footprints” to explore the operating routes in the historical campaign of Dien Bien Phu; “Conquering the peak” tour.
At the meeting, the participants discussed and approved the name, logo, slogan of Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 with name “Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 – Lao Cai – Northwest”, and theme “Northwest colors”. Its logo highlights the image of stilt-house – the typical architecture of the North-West and the symbol for homestay – a popular tourist accommodation of the North-west.
