At the meeting, Head of the French Institute Bruno Foucher emphasised that France always attaches importance to developing friendship and cultural co-operation with Viet Nam.

He also expressed his wish that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam would support the construction of a French Cultural Centre in Ho Chi Minh City in the time to come, the fourth of its kind in Viet Nam.

Meanwhile, President of the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image Frédérique Bredin briefed Minister Thien on the programme for co-operation between the Centre and the Viet Nam Cinema Department on September 5.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to co-operate more closely in the field of cinema, such as by popularising more Vietnamese films in France and French films in Viet Nam; by promoting training and exchange programmes between cinema schools in the two countries; and by signing an official co-operative programme in the future.

President of France’s National Book Centre Vincent Monade also expressed his belief that the National Library of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism would closely co-ordinate with the French centre in publishing more books about France, French literature in Viet Nam and vice versa.

Speaking at the reception, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien spoke highly of the effective co-operation between Viet Nam and France in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.

The minister expressed his hope that President Hollande’s visit to Viet Nam would create more opportunities for cultural co-operation between the two countries.

He also expressed his expectation that the French side would support Viet Nam in human resources training in the fields of cinema, the arts and libraries in the future.
