(TITC) – On 25 April 2017, the delegation of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) led by Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu attended the Global Tourism Ministerial Dialogue taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event was in the framework of Global Summit 2017, co-hosted by World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand. This was a dialogue between Global Tourism Ministers and Investors and Partners for sustainable tourism development.
The discussed issues at the dialogue included tourism investment; public-private partnership in tourism development towards 17 sustainable development goals by 2030 of the United Nations and issues related to sustainable development investment. Particularly, the dialogue partners discussed about the situation and demand in tourism infrastructure investment of the ASEAN region.
According to report of WTTC, Viet Nam’s tourism sector contributed 6.6% to GDP in 2015 while the country’s infrastructure index was 3 points (out of 7) due to the limitation in tourism infrastructure investment. However, it is forecasted to be improved thanks to the country’s positive growth prospect.
