The 2017 International Choir Competition officially kicked off on June 7 in the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Hoi An, the central province of Quang Nam.
The event features the participant of 1,000 artists from 32 choirs from 10 countries and territories around the world.
The artists will compete in different categories, ensuring strict requirements of choral performance and featuring the unique identities of their countries.
The event is considered as an important activity in promoting the values of culture, the arts and heritage as well as the tourism potential of the ancient city in Quang Nam province to both domestic and foreign visitors.
Under the framework of the competition, the choirs will perform in the ‘International Rhymes’ programme on June 8-9 at Hoi An ancient town.
This year’s international choir competition is expected to offer a space for audiences to enjoy classical music as well as to bring music closer to people.
Organised by the German organization Interkultur and Hoi An city People's Committee, the event will run until June 11.
