Artists from the Republic of Korea will perform in the historic city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam as part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival on June 11 and 12.

The city’s Culture and Sports centre said the art troupe of Hahoe Folk village - a UNESCO-recognised world heritage site - will perform mask dances while the Nan-Gye troupe will play traditional musical instruments at An Hoi Sculpture Park on the Hoai River bank from 8pm on June 12.

The two art troupes will also provide free performances at the city’s culture exchange centre, No 9 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street at 10am and 3pm on June 11 and 12.

RoK artists will demonstrate their traditional musical instruments including string gayageum Korean (zither-like string instrument), geomundo, janggu drum, Phiri and Daegeun flutes.

Vietnamese art troupes will also join the cultural exchange performance with ca tru (ceremonial singing); hat xoan (spring singing) don ca tai tu (southern folk music) and nha nhac (Vietnamese Royal Court music) on June 12.

Hoi An is an UNESCO-recognised world heritage site. The ancient port city hosted 2.6 million tourists last year, 50 percent of them foreigners.
