(TITC) – In August 2017, Viet Nam received 1,229,163 international visitor arrivals, up 18.5 percent over last month and seeing a significant increase of 35.1 percent compared to the same period last year, the General Statistic Office reported.
That figure contributed to the total number of international visitors in the first 8 months of this year of 8,472,379 arrivals, representing a rise of 29.7 percent in comparison with the same period of 2016. Of which, the international visitors travelling by air reached 7,182,458 arrivals (+32.1%); by sea: 179,919 arrivals (+0.03%); by road: 1,110,002 arrivals (+21.4%).
Almost tourist markets recorded positive growth after 8 months. In particular, China continued to be the leading market sending tourists to Viet Nam with 2,652,978 arrivals, up 51.4% over the same period last year. The following high-growth markets were Republic of Korea (+49.3%), Russia (+44.8%), Hong Kong (+30.9%), Cambodia (+27.9%), Philippines (+22.4%), Laos (+22.2%), Spain (+21.5%), Taiwan (+20.7%), etc.
The number of domestic trippers in 8 months estimated 52.8 million; total tourism receipts reached VND 335,840 billion, up 26.7% over the same period last year, according to Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.
