Ha Noi greeted over 17.9 million tourists in the first nine months of the year, a year-on-year rise of 9%, according to the city Statistics Office.
Of this, foreign tourists reached over 3.53 million, up 23.5% over a year earlier, in which those staying overnight were over 2.52 million, up 22%.
According to the city Department of Tourism, markets sending the most tourists to Hanoi are China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, France, the US, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand and Canada.
In the nine months, the overall occupancy rate of hotel rooms is estimated at 59.71%, up 4.31% compared to the same period last year, with average room price being VND1.06 million and average staying time being 1.43 days.
The capital strives to greet 23.61 million tourists in 2017, an 8% rise from the previous year, in which 4.3 million are foreign tourists with 3.07 million staying overnight, up 6%, and 19.31 million are domestic tourists, up 8.4%.
Total tourist turnover is forecast to hit VND66.61 trillion, up 8%.
