The Northwest Cuisine Festival 2017, with the aim of honouring and promoting Northwest cuisine culture along with Viet Nam’s folk cuisine culture, opened in Lao Cai city, in the northern province of Lao Cai on October 21.
As part of activities of the Lao Cai – Northwest National Tourism Year 2017, the event features 55 booths by 11 provinces and cities across the country, including Ha Noi, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Bac Giang, Ninh Thuan, Thua Thien - Hue.
Among them, Lao Cai province has ten booths of Van Ban, Si Ma Cai, Muong Khuong, Bac Ha, Bao Yen, Bat Xat districts and Lao Cai city.
In addition, the festival also includes the presence of some three to five star hotels, travel companies, enterprises and sponsors.
Hundreds of traditional ethnic dishes in the northwestern localities and other provinces across the country are being served at the three-day event.
Speaking at the opening, Mr. Ngo Hoai Trung, Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), said that the Northwest Cuisine Festival 2017 is expected to create opportunities for enterprises to exchange experiences and improve the skills of the chefs of hotels – restaurants and resorts in the country.
