The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam has directed airlines to provide extra flights during the New Year and Lunar New Year (Tet) to cope with the forecast 20% rise in passenger numbers compared to last year.
As of December 26, airlines had registered to add nearly 3,000 extra flights and 582,000 more seats on 22 air routes served at 18 airports.
Accordingly, there will be an extra 790 flights on the Noi Bai-Tan Son Nhat route, with Tan Son Nhat-Phu Bai adding 335 flights, Tan Son Nhat-Cam Ranh 324 flights, Tan Son Nhat-Da Nang 262 flights, Tan Son Nhat – Vinh 185 flights, and Tan Son Nhat-Tho Xuan 182 flights.
From January 30 to March 4, there will be more than 22,300 domestic flights, offering passengers 4.1 million seats, an increase of 15% and 19% respectively, against the same period last year.
Presently there are more than 70% of seats on domestic flights available. The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam advises passengers to access information about flights and tickets on the official channels of airlines to avoid misinformation.
