A traditional Tet market was held at Phong Nha - Ke Bang tourist centre in the central province of Quang Binh on February 19 (the fourth day of the lunar new year).
The market attracts a large number of visitors
This is the third time the centre has held the traditional Tet market, hosting unique activities and wares in the old market for Tet.
The market feature numerous pavilions displaying traditional food, such as banh chung (square glutinous rice cake), banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe) and ruou (wine) made in real time at the market, as well as local specialties and handicraft products. All products displayed at the market were free of charge.
In addition, calligraphers wrote and presented calligraphy works to visitors in the hope of bringing happiness, success, wealth and good health in the new year.
The event offered an opportunity for locals and visitors to learn more about the traditional customs of Vietnamese people during the Lunar New Year event.
In the first four days of lunar new year, the number of visitors to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park increased by nearly 30% compared to the same period in 2017.
Various activities were also held around the country yesterday to celebrate the Lunar New Year. A dragon boat race was held on Do Son sea in Hai Phong City, which offers prayers for favourable weather and healthy crops in the lunar new year.
Thousands of visitors flocked to Phat Tich Pagoda Festival in Phat Tich Commune, Tien Du District, Bac Ninh Province which was held from February 18-20 (the third to the fifth days of the lunar new year).
