200 Japanese cherry trees planted in Bac Ninh Province

A ceremony to plant 200 cherry trees presented by the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Association of Chukyo region took place on March 13 at Nguyen Van Cu Park, Bac Ninh City, the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Speaking at the ceremony, representative of leaders of Bac Ninh City said that the cherry blossom symbol has long been loved by Vietnamese people. The event contributed to introduce and popularize the images of Japan and its people to people in the city; enhance the understanding, trust and cohesion of the two peoples; and affirm the close relationship and co-operation between the two countries, thereby making the Japanese-Vietnamese culture closer and closer.

The cherry blossom project was kicked off in 2012. Since then, the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Association of Chukyo region has been actively developing cherry flowers in Viet Nam. Up to now, cherry blossoms have been grown in many localities in the provinces and cities of Viet Nam, including Bac Ninh. Through this event, representatives from Japan also expressed the belief that cherry blossoms will become a bridge, contributing to spiritual exchange between the peoples of Japan and Viet Nam.

At the ceremony, a representative of the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Association of Chukyo region introduced techniques to plant the trees.
