Update: Jul 04, 2018
Major media agencies from member countries of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation met on July 3 to seek to enhance cooperation in service of tourism in the region.

The participants said tourism is a potential cooperation field for Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam, members of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation.

They said tourism is contributing to the economic restructuring and national gross domestic product.

For the sector’s sustainable development, close cooperation among the countries along the Mekong-Lancang river is needed, and communication is a key element, they said.

The delegates said new media, particularly social networks, is posing opportunities and challenges for mainstream media in the region.

Deputy General Director of Viet Nam News Agency Le Quoc Minh said cross-border collaboration will create a good chance for medial agencies to share experience as well as contribute to the sustainable development in each nation.
