Attending the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Chairman of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Head of Organizing Committee of ATF 2019 reported the preparation for the event. Accordingly, ATF 2019 will take place from January 14-18, 2019 in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province with a series of activities such as the meetings of ASEAN Tourism Ministers and ASEAN National Tourism Organization; TRAVEX tourism fair; ASEAN Tourism Ministers Press Conference; ASEAN Tourism Awards, etc.

Chairman Nguyen Van Tuan stressed this is the second time Viet Nam has hosted ATF since 2009. Therefore, it’s a good opportunity for Viet Nam to promote culture and tourism of the country in general and Quang Ninh Province in particular to visitors and international partners.

Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province where ATF 2019 will be held, has been known as a popular tourist destination for domestic and international visitors. Thanks to modern facilities and experiences on organizing international scale events, Quang Ninh Province is considered as an appropriate place and willing to host this important event of ASEAN tourism.

At the meeting, many other issues related to the preparation were also reported and discussed.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quang Tung highlighted Viet Nam tourism has been developing and receiving great attention of the State and Government. Being the host country, Viet Nam will have chance to enhance the role and position of the country in tourism cooperation within ASEAN region. Specially, the success of ATF 2019 will create a premise for Viet Nam taking on the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2020.
