Update: Aug 17, 2018
Ho Chi Minh City Museum held a ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its establishment (1978 - 2018) on August 16.

The thematic exhibition “Marks of land reclamation in South Viet Nam
through the museum objects” attracts many visitors

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the ministry’s 2017 emulation flag to the museum, while the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee offered a traditional flag, the badge of Ho Chi Minh City and a certificate of merit to the museum and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values.

On the occasion, a thematic exhibition “Marks of land reclamation in South Viet Nam through the museum objects” was opened, as part of the activities to mark 320 years of historic formation and development of Ho Chi Minh City (1698 - 2018). Through the display, domestic and international visitors will have a chance to understand more on the process of formation and development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the Southern land in general.

After 40 years of operation, up to now the Museum has collected more than 374,000 documents and artefacts, including 77,850 original artefacts, while it has researched and created more than 108 collections of artefacts, including 15 collections of rare objects, which are appreciated for their cultural, historical, scientific and economic value.

In addition, the museum has hosted hundreds of on-the-spot and mobile thematic exhibitions.

At the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh Museum also received 1,186 documents, artefacts, and movies from senior revolutionary cadres, organisations and individuals.
