On December 29, the Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) held a ceremony at Phu Bai International Airport in Hue Ancient City to welcome the 115 millionth visitor to arrive in Viet Nam by air in 2019.

The 115 millionth air traveller was Matsubara Kuniyoshi from Japan, who took flight number VN 1370 by Vietnam Airlines, from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Phu Bai International Airport.
Nguyen Trung Thanh and Ly Thanh Nhan from Viet Nam were tourists no. 14,999,999 and no. 15,000,001 and were also presented with gifts at the event.
Addressing the event, ACV Chairman Lai Xuan Thanh noted that there is high possibility that ACV will serve 116 million passengers in 2019, up 12% compared to 2018.
Of which, domestic air passengers have been estimated at 74 million, up 11% year-on-year. In mid-2018, Viet Nam’s aviation industry recognised the appearance of Bamboo Airways, a new private airline owned by FLC Group, helping to increase the competitiveness of products, services, prices, and fight operations among domestic air carriers.
In 2019, ACV has ensured safely for 740,000 flights and has taken measures to improve the operations of airports through the use of modern technology.
