‘Explore Vietnam’ photo contest launched to boost tourism
Update: Jan 10, 2020
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) launched the national tourism photo contest 2020 entitled ‘Explore Vietnam’ in Hanoi on January 8.

The photo ’Colours of the Sea’ by Tran Bao Hoa wins top prize at the national tourism art photography contest 2019

First launched in 1990, the contest aims to introduce Vietnamese culture, land and people to domestic and foreign travelers, while attracting more visitors to the country, thus contributing to transforming the tourism into a spearhead economic sector.

The contest is open to professional and amateur photographers who are Vietnamese citizens from their home country or abroad, as well as expats living and working in Vietnam.

Contestants are encouraged to capture the natural beauty, historical sites, cultural practices and values, customs, festivals, and people from across the country. Entries should be submitted no later than June 5, 2020, and the organising board will award one first, one second, three third and five consolation prizes to the most exceptional entries.

Addressing the event, Vice chairwoman of the VNAT Ngo Hoai Chung noted with pleasure that the hospitality sector made significant contributions to the overall development of the country in 2019.

Vietnam was honoured with various tourism awards and was ranked as one of the top ten countries that have the fastest-growing tourism industry in the world.

The sector welcomed more than 18 million foreign arrivals last year, up 16.2% year-on-year, and served 85 million domestic travelers. Revenues from tourist related activities reached VND726 trillion (US$31.2 million)

In 2020, the country strives to welcome approximately 20.5 million international tourists, and 90 million domestic ones. The tourism sector aims to gross over VND830 trillion (US$35.9 billion) in revenue.
