According to a report of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2020, the number of tourists to Dak Lak province was more than 203,000 (an increase of 14% compared to the Lunar New Year 2019), including 4,400 international visitors (up 230%).
According to Nguyen Thuy Phuong Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province, this is the first year that the number of tourists visiting the province reached over 200,000 visitors during the Tet holiday. The resorts and destinations have developed specific plans, launched many new tourism products, and imbued the local cultural identity while capturing the latests trends, which attracted a large number of visitors.
On the occasion of Tet holiday, the Dak Lak province's culture, sports and tourism industry has organised many unique physical cultural programmes to serve the people and visitors so they can enjoy Tet holiday.
On January 30, at a press conference, Mai Van Huynh, Secretary of the District Party Committee - Chairman of Phu Quoc District People's Committee (Kien Giang province) said that during Tet holiday 2020, the number of visitors to Phu Quoc reached more than 108,000, including nearly 24,000 international visitors (up over 43% over the same period).
On the same day, Huong Pagoda Festival officially opened at Thien Tru Pagoda, Huong Son Commune, My Duc District, Hanoi. Sightseeing trips to pagodas, temples and caves are the most popular activities at the Huong Pagoda Festival, in addition to ceremonies, rituals and offerings in the hope of a prosperous and healthy year.
During this year’s festival, the organisers planned many things so as to ensure the safety of tourists. The organising board stated that nearly 200,000 tourists have visited the Huong Son landscape during the early days of the lunar new year, including 40,000 visitors on the opening day.
