(TITC) This was an emphasized focus in the online meeting organized on October 5 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) with local tourism authorities of 25 provinces and cities to discuss reviving Vietnam tourism.
Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized that the safety is the foremost priority of all tourism activities in the new normal. Vietnam tourism has taken steps to gradually reopen from intra-provincial tourism, domestic tourism to international tourism.
The localities had high vaccination rate including Kien Giang, Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. Deputy Minister of MCST, Mr. Doan Van Viet suggested the local tourism authorities continue to propose the People's Committees of provinces and cities accelerating vaccination for tourism labour force. This will help local tourism to be able to reopen safely.
According to the delegates at the meeting, it is important to identify national common criteria for vaccination certificate as well as vaccine passport policy for international tourists.
After the tourism recovery plan was approved on September 7 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, many localities have actively been kick-starting tourism reopening to tourists. Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism said that Quang Ninh has rebooted tourism for local people and domestic tourists and the province is targeting 800,000 to 900,000 visitors in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Hanoi tourism is planning to reopen in phases. It is expected that from this month, tourism activities will be unlocked for people in the City, then will be reopened to tourists from some safe localities, and then will revive in the new normal.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province has restarted to welcome tourists from a number of localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai Province, Binh Duong Province, etc. The province is scheduled to launch tourism e-commerce platform on October 20 and organize an online travel fair in November and December.
Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang Province) was selected as the first destination to pilot the reopening plan to international tourists. The locality is planning to conduct a survey and appraisal of service facilities in Phu Quoc to welcome tourists.
A series of localities with favorable conditions such as Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh… have actively proposed plans to welcome international tourists after the pilot plan of Phu Quoc.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet emphasized that localities should focus on promoting domestic tourism, restoring tourism activities in "green zones", connecting safe destinations, creatively stimulating tourism demand, diversifying tourism products and experiences, clearly planning for local tourism recovery and development.
