“In a City" is the title of an exhibition about the capital city of Hanoi, which opened on May 15.
Funded by the British Council in Vietnam, the exhibition features a book, a multi-media exhibition and an e-book version.
For a three-month period from November 2008 to March 2009, six teams of writers and photographers each selected a physical space or community within Hanoi and set out - using words, photographs, video and sound – to tell the everyday stories of the people they encountered.
“In a City†is a collection of some of their passions, problems, relationships and routines, vocations and obsessions.
Running until May 21, the event is part of “Inclusive Cities†- a two-year initiative within the British Council’s regional Creative Cities project that celebrates and gives a voice to communities living in East Asian cities, China, and the UK through performances, workshops and joint initiatives.
