ACV said that there were a total of 56.8 million air passengers in Vietnam in the period, representing a 29.2% year-on-year increase.
Of the total, local passengers hit nearly 42.4 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 2%.
The lifting of COVID travel restrictions in major markets, including Northeast Asia, is helping foster a recovery in international aviation, ACV added.
To gain the impressive growth, ACV focused on improving service quality by applying digital transformation at airports, especially Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai – the two largest in Vietnam – in an effort to ease congestion at peak hours. The firm is also testing a biometric authentication system for passengers who use electronic identity cards in the aviation security check process.
A detailed plan on non-stop toll collection using camera recognition technology at Da Nang, Phu Bai, and Cat Bi airports has also bene implemented by ACV.
