(TITC) - On 9th December 2024, in Quang Nam, Viet Nam, in the framework of the First Conference on Tourism for Rural Development, the Second Annual Meeting of the Best Tourism Villages by the UN Tourism Network took place.
Attending the Meeting were villages from all regions received the UN Tourism’s recognition, including Tra Que Vegetable Village (Viet Nam), UN Tourism’s high-level leaders and representatives from UN Tourism’s Member States.

Giving welcome remarks at the Meeting, Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Executive Director, UN Tourism expressed her great pleasure as Hoi An - a city rich in history and culture is the host venue of the Second Annual Meeting of the Network. “Your presence today reflects your unwavering dedication to advancing rural development through tourism” said Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic.
Since its inception in 2021, the Best Tourism Villages Network has grown remarkably, now encompassing 254 villages from 59 countries across five regions. This includes 184 villages recognized as Best Tourism Villages and 70 villages participating in the Upgrade Programme. This incredible growth is a testament to the initiative’s relevance and the shared commitment of its members to fostering sustainable development, preserving heritage, and enhancing community well-being.

UN Tourism remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Member States in these efforts, recognizing the immense value that Member States bring to the global tourism landscape.
Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic believes that this meeting will pave the way for even greater achievements. She also encourages each Member State to take an active role in the discussions over the coming days, as the value and success of this Network will be shaped by their ideas, experiences, and engagement, and continues to serve as a powerful driver of sustainable rural development.
