Some well-known artists are displaying their latest paintings and sculptures to mark the August Revolution and Nation Day at an annual exhibition that opened in HCM City on August 27.
The event features 190 works by 146 artists, all members of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, including renowned names like Bui Quang Anh, Truong Han Minh, Huynh Phuong Dong, Uyen Huy and Nguyen Than.
The paintings are made from a range of materials like water colour, oils colour, and lacquer, while the sculptures have been made from stone, wood and other materials.
In the week preceding the opening, the works were judged by a paned of experts and 12 were awarded certificates with the top prize going to Luong Quoc Thang for his painting Tinh Nguon (the Source of Feeling).
Sixty-seven painters were also given medals for their contribution to the country’s art scene.
The exhibition, at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum, will go on until September 8.
