Three more five-star hotels have joined a week-old special program of discounting room rates by around 50% for Vietnamese guests to attract Vietnamese people to stay in high-end hotels, bringing the number of hotels in the program to nine.
Tao Van Nghe of the HCMC Hotel Association told that the three hotels were the Movenpick, the New World Saigon and the Legend Hotel Saigon. The Caravelle, the Majestic, the Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers, the Renaissance Riverside, the Rex and the Windsor have all been in the program since the start.
The “One day at a five-star hotel†promotion program began on September 1 and lasts until October 31. Under the program, the hotels are offering different rates based on their own average rate of the month. Organizers said the promotional prices would be lower than the corporate rates and other rates they are quoting.
The Rex and the Majestic are offering Vietnamese customers a rate of US$80 per room per night, the Renaissance Riverside US$109 per night and the Legend US$110 per night.
The rates apply for the first night only and guests should pay when they book the room. Bookings must be made at least seven days before check-in but some of the hotels are offering more flexible conditions.
“We are calling the remaining luxury hotels to join the program to help make Vietnamese people familiar with high-end services,†said Nghe.
Nghe, who is also the director of the Majestic, said that after a week of running the promotion, Vietnamese guests had booked 16 nights at the hotels.
“Not too many bookings but we received guests on the first day. It’s good because local people are interested in the promotion,†he said.
