Hanoi to host traditional cookery competition

A traditional Vietnamese cookery competition will take place in Hanoi from January 5-9, 2010.

The competition, which is being held to celebrate the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and 50 years of the country’s tourism industry, will see many chefs from numerous famous hotels and restaurants across the country taking part.

Do Thi Hong Xoan, Director of Department of Hotel under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said that the event is seen as an valuable opportunity for chefs to get together to exchange their experiences in the trade as well as develop traditional Vietnamese dishes.

The best recipes will be made available to the public and taught in tourism training schools.
