Cultural activities commemorate Vietnam-China diplomatic ties
Update: Jan 21, 2010
A performance by Chinese musical artists was held at the Hanoi Opera House on January 20.

Present at the event were Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Le Tien Tho, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Commission, and the Chinese Ambassador in Vietnam, Sun Guoxiang.

The programme begins a series of cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and China on the occasion of celebrating their diplomatic relations and kicks off Vietnam-China Friendship Year 2010.

Art performance took place in an atmosphere of warmth and friendship between the two countries. Chinese artists were moved when singing songs in Vietnamese, which helped audiences feel more deeply the profound cultural similarities between Vietnam and China.

In addition, an exhibition of calligraphy and painting opened at the National Library in Hanoi on January 21. On display are 25 works by Vietnamese and 45 by Chinese artists.

On this occasion, the Chinese Calligraphy Association sent 10 well-known calligraphers to the exhibition to engage in exchanges with Vietnamese artists and visitors. The event will run until January 24.
