A total of 1,500 foreign tourists on board the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Legend of the Sea arrived in Halong Bay, a UNESCO-recognised world cultural heritage site, in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, on February 9.
Halong Bay has so far this year welcomed three cruisers with more than 2,300 holiday-makers, mainly from Europe, the US and the Republic of Korea.
Hanoi and Halong Bay has been selected by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism’s promotion programme as two destinations of the national tourism year 2010.
Quang Ninh strives to welcome 5.2 million tourists, including 2.4 million foreign visitors and attain a profit of VND3 trillion this year.
To the target, Quang Ninh Province will promote the heritage’s preservation and management as well as trade promotion. The province is calling for all economic sectors to join in cooperation for tourism development and create new tourism products.
