A group of 32 musicians, poets, photographers, and other artists has begun a 10-day tour of Vietnam to create artworks that will showcase the development of the country and its beauty.
The artists went around HCMC on April 15, visiting Nha Rong Wharf from where Ho Chi Minh began his journey to France to begin his revolutionary career, the Thu Thiem Tunnel beneath the Sai Gon River which is now under construction, the East-West Highway, and the South Sai Gon Residential Area.
They are set to tour several provinces in all three regions to see historical sites, landscapes and other beautiful sites, and major construction works to discover the progress of the country 35 years after liberation.
The project has been undertaken to mark Liberation Day, April 30.
Their travel will take them to remote provinces like Quang Ngai, Cao Bang, and Lang Son as well as to others like Quang Binh, Nghe An, Hanoi, and Thai Nguyen.
They will travel by air, train, and ship and at the end of the 10-day period begin to write, compose, or paint.
The project has been organised by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in HCMC and sponsored by SaigonTourist.
Pham Dang Khuong, a musician and deputy head of the HCMC Youth Cultural House, said all the works created by the artists after the tour would be released as books or CDs for public consumption.
