Hue Citadel to be fully restored by 2020

The Government has drawn up a roadmap for restoring the Hue royal citadel through 2020 as part of an overall programme to conserve the world heritage site.

By 2012 the citadel complex will be documented and zoned for protection and the list of relics in bad repair drawn up.

The next stage, lasting five years, will focus on the restoration of structures and decorations and completion of landscapes and infrastructure within the Forbidden City.

This stage will also involve scientific research, international co-operation, and training for conservation staff.

During the last stage beginning in 2018 restoration of typical and important structures and the complex's entire will be finished.

The programme will receive funding from various sources, including the central and provincial governments, ticket sales, and international organisations.
