‘Russian Night’ featuring masterpieces by Piotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and Modest Mussorgsky under the baton of two conductors Tran Nhat Minh and Nguyen Anh Son, violinist Bui Cong Duy and pianist Vu Ngoc Linh will take place at HCMC Opera House on Saturday, May 9, 2011.

The four reunited young artists will contribute pieces like Violin Concerto in D Major and the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky, Rhapsody on the Theme of Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninov and Dawn on the Moscow River by Modest Mussorgsky from opera Khovanshina.
Son studied orchestral conducting at the Russian State Conservatory in Moscow. He has rehearsed and conducted with the Yaroslav Philharmonic and the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
Linh started learning piano from the age of six. In 2001, he was awarded a full scholarship to study in the U.S. and won several prizes at various piano competitions there.
Duy won first prize at the National Music Competition ‘Autumn 1990’ in the youth category. He trained at the Novosibirsk Conservatory in Russia and won many international competitions. In 1997, he was voted one of the 10 persons of the year in Vietnam. He is currently teaching at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Minh studied at Magnitogorsk State Conservatory (Russia) majoring in Chorus Conducting and graduating with distinctions in 2004. In 2007, he graduated with a Master of Arts degree at Moscow’s Russian State Conservatory, majoring in Chorus Conducting. He is assistant manager and chorusmaster of the HBSO Opera.
Tickets are available for the show which begins at 8 p.m. at HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra (HBSO) Office, 3 Phan Van Dat Street, District 1 and at the Opera House’s box office priced at VND250,000 and VND150,000 for general public and VND60,000 for students.
