Bac Ninh: Dong Xuyen Stork garden to be come an eco-tourist site
Update: Oct 11, 2011
The Bac Ninh Department of Environment and Natural Resources on October 5 launched the ground-breaking ceremony of Dong Xuyen Stock Garden improvement project with investment capital of over VND 3 billion.

Located at Dong Tien Commune, Yen Phong District, the Garden has an area of 5 hectares and was said to be formed a few decades ago. When Dong Xuyen Communal House was under construction in 1994, many storks perched on bamboos in front of the communal house. The number of storks had then been raising to tens of thousands and the locals planted more bamboos for their nests.

Dong Xuyen Stork Garden has been recognized an ecotourist site since 2009. Nevertheless, poaching activities in recent years have significantly decreased the number of stork individuals.

The improvement project indicates determination of local authority on protection of stork habitats and developing Dong Xuyen Stork Garden into an attractive wildlife area.
