According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, projects to preserve, repair and embellish the Hue Citadel have been ratified by the Thua Thien Hue People's Committee with a total investment of 1.282 billion VND. This is the biggest scale project on Hue relics until now.
Statistics show that more than half of the 147 works of the Royal Palace require preservation. Most of the remaining wood architecture has been affected by wood eaters, tens of thousands of square metres of garden have been abandoned and the sewage, road and bridge systems have been damaged.
This project will focus on repairing some of the downgraded works, clearance, compensation and resettlement for 876 households. The project is expected to begin late this year and will be completed in 2015.
