Tourists visiting Hoi An to be offered free wireless internet service

People and tourists to the UNESCO heritage town of Hoi An can access free wireless internet (wi-fi) at the end of 2011, said the Quang Nam provincial information and communication department.

The project is co-implemented by the provincial information and communication department, in coordination with Vietnam Data Communication Centre 3 and VNPT Quang Nam.

In the first phase, there will be 350 wi-fi hotspots and a wifi broadcasting stations at major tourist destinations and the service will cover 50 percent of the area of the old town.

The project aims to offer people and tourists to Hoi An easy and convenient access to information around the town.

The project was completed with a total expense of VND 20 billion. This came from the provincial budget along with local businesses.
