Quang Nam spends VND one billion to preserve traditional village houses
Update: Dec 26, 2011
The central province of Quang Nam has decided to invest nearly VND one billion to preserve traditional village houses in seven highland districts.

Each district will be assisted with VND 40 million for the building of two new traditional village houses. The rest will be spent on preserving old traditional village houses.

According to the Quang Nam provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam has nearly 300 traditional village houses.

Through surveys, authorities have learned that besides village houses having artistic architecture and being culturally valuable, some are losing their original characteristics, which should be preserved.

Village houses are considered one of the cultural and spiritual symbols of the community where a majority of activities and festivals take place.
