Update: Jun 28, 2012
The Egyptian national airline (Egypt Air - MS) had a working session with Vietnamese tourism businesses on June 25 in Ho Chi Minh City, on opening direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Cairo, Egypt.

Vietnam is the 7th market in Asia and the 4th market in Southeast Asia that Egypt Air has inaugurated flights to transport passengers.

Egypt Air Regional Director in East Asia Mr. Youssef Gad said that Vietnam is an attractive destination. After positive market research, Egypt Air has decided to negotiate business development in the Vietnamese market. Vietnamese tourists will be exempt from visa requirements when entering Egypt.

During the first period, visitors from Vietnam to Egypt will fly from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, Thailand by Thai Airways or other airline and then directly from Bangkok to Cairo by Boeing 777. There will initially be around 300 passenger seats available on a daily basis. After a short time Egypt Air will open a direct route to Vietnam.

Currently, Egypt Air has 86 destinations worldwide. The Cairo international airport is an entry port from Asia, Southeast Asia to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
