The Vietnam National Flag Carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on January 22 its updated schedule to serve passengers over the lunar new year festival 2013.
Due to heavy travel demand over this time, Vietnam Airlines opens new domestic night flights. Accordingly, the early daily flight will depart at 0h30 and the late flight will depart at 23h50.
Between February 6-8 (26th-28th of lunar December) and February 15-17 (6th-8th of lunar January), the carrier plans to keep services open 24 hous a day on its hub network to meet the increased demand of passengers.
On February 8 (28th of lunar December), over 400 flights will be operated, a 38% increase from the normal schedule and a 5% increase from the same period last year.
The busiest day after the nine-day holiday is February 16 (7th of lunar January). On this day the carrier will operate 430 flights, a 43% increase from the normal schedule and a 7% increase from the same period last year.
Up to now, over 308,000 passengers have booked tickets with Vietnam Airlines during the lunar new year festival 2013 period. As many as 125,000 seats are still available. The carrier advised passengers to purchase their tickets right after making reservations. As the time for purchase is out, the booking system will automatically cancel all un-purchased reservations and advance others on the waiting list. In case of sold out flights, passengers are able to book stand-by for any vacancies by providing their cell phone numbers to Vietnam Airlines.
Between January 21 to February 19 (10th of lunar December to 10th of lunar February), Vietnam Airlines offers services transporting peach, carapace and blueberries (both branches and trees) on domestic flights, using Boeing 777, Airbus A330, A321 and A320 aircraft. The transport fee ranges from VND200,000 - 400,000 each bunch (VAT included), depending on the route.
