Hue receives 30,000 visitors for Tet

As many as 30,000 tourists visited imperial Hue's relics in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue during the first three days of the Year of the Snake.

The tourists included 8,000 foreign visitors, mainly from France, Australia and the US. Besides discovering more about Vietnam's Tet festival, the visitors had a large choice of traditional Vietnamese dishes to enjoy, adding to the festive atmosphere in Vietnam's ancient capital.

The tourists had an opportunity to join the Lunar New Year's Eve party, receive gifts and enjoy Tet feasts.

The Huyen Tran Centre of Culture in the southwest of the city received thousands of travellers visiting pagodas and mausoleums during the festival. They paid tribute to the late Princess Huyen Tran and King Tran Nhan.

On the third day of the Lunar New Year, 2,100 tourists aboard the Celebrity Millennium Ship from the US visited the city.

Thua Thien-Hue expects to cater for between 2.5 and 3 million tourists this year.
