Vietnamese “Ao dai” on show in Italy

Clothes styles from Vietnam's different regions, especially Ao dai, Vietnam traditional long dress were introduced to Italian friends at the Hanoi-Florence fashion show in Florence city on April 23.

The event is part of the "Vietnamese days in the Tuscany region" programme to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Italy.

Young designer Hoang Hai brought to the fashion show his special Ao dai collection that reflects both traditional and contemporary styles.

Hai's collection is seen as a perfect combination of Vietnamese traditional dress and materials such as satin, silk and chiffon, which are produced in Italy's modern factories.

The designer also introduced his hand-made collection of evening dresses made of various materials such as velvet and lace.

Italian audiences expressed their enthusiasm for Ao dai, saying Vietnamese women look graceful in the traditional dress.

"Vietnamese days in Emilia-Romagna" will take place from May 3-11 in the Italian region's capital city, Bologna, with a wide range of activities organised, said a press briefing on the same day.
