The Central Highlands province of
Dak Lak has made a commitment to provide VND10 billion for a project to restore
and preserve the Yang Prong Cham tower in Ea Rok commune, Ea Sup district.
Under the agreement, the investment is allocated to conserve the steel frame
and build a fence around the relics as well as pave its foundation with a total
area of 1.200 square metres, plant grasses and put benches
inside the tower.
The 9m-high Yang Prong Cham tower was built at the end of the 13th century
to worship the God Siva (also called Mukhalinga) to wish for a peaceful and
happy life. It is the only Cham ancient tower in the Central Highlands region
and was recognised as a national architectural relic in 1991.
The restoration of the tower, which is scheduled to be completed in October,
is expected to attract more domestic and foreign tourists to Dak Lak province.
