(TITC) - International arrivals to Vietnam in Sep. 2013 estimated 614,827 arrivals, increasing by 28.9% over the same period last year. Total international arrivals in the first nine months of 2013 reached 5,490,274 representing a 9.9% growth over the same period last year, achieving 76.25% of the target of receiving 7.2 million international arrivals in 2013.
In September, international arrivals to Viet Nam by air reached 458,190, increasing by 22.3% over Sep. 2012; by sea: 18,578 (down 19.7%); by road: 138,059 (up 74.2%). By purposes of trips, the number of tourist arrivals for leisure was 376,981, up 30.2%; those for business: 103,647 (up 25.9%); for visiting relatives: 100,953 (up 25.9%); for other purposes: 33,245 (up 31.8%).
International arrivals from some markets in nine months rose strongly in comparison with the same period of 2012, including Russia (65.9%), China (37%), Thailand (23.1%), New Zealand (20.5%), Indonesia (19.9%), Malaysia and Australia (12.5%).
The total number of domestic tourist trippers in the past nine months was 31 million, up 11%. Total tourism revenue estimated VND 152,800 billion, 23.5% higher than that in the same period last year.
