Vinh-Vientiane flight route promoted
Update: Sep 30, 2013
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and the Nghe An People's Committee have joined hands to open a flight route between Vinh and the Lao capital Vientiane, which is expected to begin operation in the end of 2013.
Accordingly, VNA will operate four flights a week on the route by ATR72 aircraft. The flight from Vinh to Vientiane is expected to effectively exploit tourism potential in three Vietnamese provinces of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh.

The two sides will offer policies to encourage travel agencies to use air services to improve the prestige of tourism programs by air, said VNA. In addition, investing in vehicles to receive passengers and strengthening dialogue with businesses to build policies for local tourism development will be given importance, the carrier stressed.

From the start of the year, Nghe An province welcomed 4.1 million tourist arrivals, including 2.5 million arrivals staying overnight and 457,000 arrivals travelling by air.

In tourism infrastructure, the province now has 608 accommodation suppliers with more than 13,700 rooms. Of this, there is one five-star hotel, five four-star hotels and 11 three-star hotels. About 30 travel agencies in the province operate and provide services for tourists, in which 10 are international travel agencies.
