The northern mountainous province of
Ha Giang has approved a project on the preservation and restoration of Dong Van
ancient quarter with an investment of VND 66 billion.
The project will restore 31 ancient houses and three markets in
the ancient quarter. In October, an initial three houses will be upgraded,
providing experience for the restoration of the remaining houses.
Owners of ancient houses agreed with the state to restore their
houses according to approved parts. After restoration, local people will
continue to use them for their daily life, as well as to serve tourism and
promote the values of the relics.
The Ha Giang provincial Department of Culture,
Sports and Tourism is coordinating with the provincial Department of
Construction to complete the technical drawings and estimates for the
restoration.
