The first flight linking central Nghe An province’s Vinh City and the Lao capital city of Vientiane landed at Wattay International Airport on January 12.
It was the first international route run by the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines in 2014.
Four flights are launched per week on the new route, departing every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday by ATR-72 aircraft. The flights depart from Vinh airport at 8:40 am and from Vientiane airport at 10:40 am (local time).
Lao Civil Aviation Department Director General Yakua Lopangkao said that the new route will facilitate businessmen and tourists’ travel thus broadening comprehensive cooperation, noting that Laos Airlines will offer the best possible conditions for its Vietnamese counterpart to effectively exploit air routes to Laos.
