About 320,000 tourist arrivals visited destinations in the northern province of Quang Ninh during the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2014 (from December 30 to January 7 on the lunar calendar), a 15 percent rise over a year earlier.
Of this, 6,600 arrivals were maritime tourists, 9,000 arrivals came via Mong Cai border gate and arrivals pilgrimaging to Yen Tu reached 160,000. In addition, 68,000 tourist arrivals visited Ha Long Bay during the period, including 53,000 foreigners and 12,000 who stayed overnight.
Total tourism revenue during Tet reached an estimated VND105 billion, a year-on-year rise of 17 percent.
