VNAT launches tourism environment protection campaign in Ly Son Island

(TITC) – Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in coordination with Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and People's Committee of Ly Son Island District launched a campaign on tourism environment protection in Ly Son Island on March 17, 2014.

In attendance were Deputy Director General Nguyen Manh Cuong, leaders of Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and People's Committee of Ly Son Island District and many people living in the island.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director General Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized the significant importance of environment towards human life in general and tourism in particular. Environmental protection requires the involvement of many stakeholders, particularly local government and community.

He also hoped that with the participation of authorities and community, Ly Son Island’s tourism environment would increasingly be improved to lure more domestic and international tourists to the island, contributing to developing tourism into key economic sector.

At the ceremony, VNAT offered Ly Son Island District 40 dustbins and rubbish collection tools. After that, the participants and local people divided into groups to collect the rubbish in tourist spots of the island.

The launching ceremony triggered a series of activities in the tourism environment protection movement in the island district which contributes to raise public awareness and develop Ly Son Island into a green – clean – beautiful tourist destination.
